Are you ready to start saving money when you shop? I’ve got you covered!

There are 2 things you should be taking advantage of to lower your out of pocket costs. Sign up for store emails and join (free) reward programs.  You’re either thinking…“DUH?!” or “No more emails!” Yes, you HAVE to do it!

I promise, it’s so simple and very beneficial! Think of emails and rewards as the foundation to saving money. It all starts here to change the way you think about shopping.

Emails

I’m pretty sure every store/business out there sends out some type of email notification that may, most importantly, include sale/clearance notifications and coupons. You need these!

You can use emails to plan your shopping trips to get the most bang for your buck. Search your emails before or during your store trip to check for freebies and coupons. Tip: Screenshot any offers or coupons for an easier find. Most stores honor their coupon(s) via cell phone. Easy!

Feel like you receive too many emails?! Of Course! You can always unsubscribe especially if the merchandise isn’t affordable or no sales/coupons are offered. If you haven’t shopped at a store in the past 2 years, it’s time to unsubscribe! Two years is my time-frame. (There are certain stores/businesses I visit when traveling that are not in my city.)

Don’t forget about email preferences, which can help cut down on the number of emails you receive. Bigger (departmental) stores usually allow you to change your interests and how often you receive emails.

Stay organized with your email. There are many ways to make it work for you. Folders help, add your favorite stores to your VIP list. Having your email set up on your cell/tablet saves a lot of time. (Delete never came with such ease!)

Reward programs

VERY popular if you haven’t noticed. In my opinion, they will only get better. Encouraging spending and loyalty, what business would not want to be a part of that? Most stores have a reward/savings program. They are free! If they’re not, they should be and eventually will be! Do yourself a favor and sign up for the free ones. Most businesses will do it for you or send you an email/text to sign up on your own time.  Some programs allow you to use your phone number every time…nothing to show, print or swipe. Cha-Ching! 💳

If you’re going to spend, why not build points up for some cash back or a few dollars knocked off your total? You will also get opportunities for bonus point days (double/triple points, etc.) depending on the store.

So, the nest time a cashier asks you if you would like to sign-up for their reward program…I want you to say “Yes, I do want to save!” Ha ha.

Both emails and reward programs can help you stay in the know! You can be the first to know about new shipments/products, trends/styles and sales. Some stores allow you to shop before anyone else by being a subscriber/reward customer. Also, some will give you a gift or special offer/coupon on your birthday! 🎂 If you don’t want it, send it my way! 😉 The one time sign up is worth it!
