Where To Find The Best Affordable Work Clothes – Top 5 Places To Shop

Some stores can be a hit or miss with affordable and good quality clothes for the office. I’m sharing my top 5 places to buy work appropriate clothing and exactly what items and brands I purchase over and over. I have been shopping at these stores for years and I’ve never been disappointed. P.S. Don’t let the price tag fool you, you can always expect some type of sale or coupon to save money.

1.) New York & Company – It’s number one on my list on purpose! I’m very particular about my dress pants and I absolutely love the 7th Avenue slim ankle pants. NY&C was the very first place I discovered comfortable, dressy ankle pants that didn’t wrinkle, were short girl approved and fit my curves so well…they immediately stole my heart! Ha ha.

I can always find work tops (including sweaters) and pants all in one visit at NY&C. They have cute vests and jackets too depending on the season. Their clothing fits TTS (true to size).

**Ways to save: Shop during a sale and use a coupon code from their emails. Codes are not always available so it helps to be an email subscriber. Sign up for sale alerts via text. Some codes can be used on top of sale prices, but you can’t use a coupon on a NY Deal. There are also opportunities to earn City Cash.

2.) JCPenney – The ‘Worthington’ brand is essentially the business clothing line. You’ll find everything from camis to matching pant suits. More than half of my work tops, cardigans and shoes come from this line. I really like their dresses too, they’re an appropriate length. I get everything at such a good deal–it’s very rare that I will spend over $20 on an item. Clothing has a TTS fit. P.S. One of the cutest jewelry lines is Bijoux Bar.

**Ways to save: Shop during a sale and use a coupon from their website under the ‘coupon’ tab. If you can’t find one, google it…there’s at least a 15% or 20% always out there. Join the free reward program to build up points for $10 rewards to use on anything! One coupon per transaction but rewards can be combined.

3.) Express – Corporate wear at its best. Tops, camis, dress pants, shoes, bags…you can definitely leave with a full chic work wardrobe in one visit. Hands down, the best adjustable strap, dressy camis to wear with cardigans and blazers. The ankle pants are the absolute best too! I love the mid and high-rise ankle pants & the Columnist pant has the best flattering style.

Express is also your destination for glam wear, especially for the holidays. Check out their bags too. I am pretty picky when it comes to handbags and I usually only buy designer. Express always has really cute ones that draw me in. There’s probably a matching shoe to go with them too. And…you’ll most likely get tempted by the dainty earrings and bracelets on your way to checkout like I do.

I personally have to size up one size in a few things like the pants. Some women say they also do and some say they fit TTS. Just pay attention to the product details or the tag description about the fit.

**Ways to save: Sign up for text alerts and use the emails to get promo code coupons. You can also utilize the emails for sale notifications or view the sale of the day by going to their website. Some codes can be combined with sales, always read the exclusions.

4.) Old Navy – If you’re looking for a more relaxed business style, Old Navy has it. You can find a lot of solids, basics and simple detailed clothing from easy swing dresses to flowy feminine tops. Their clothes fit comfortably and are TTS. The Harper dress pants are my favorite and the only style I purchase there.

**Ways to save: Emails are the best way to get in-store coupons. When online shopping, search ‘coupons’ on their website to apply saving codes to your cart. If you use the app, it’s even easier to apply promo codes. Sign up for text sale alerts. Also, there are certain days to earn Super Cash throughout the year.

5.) Kohl’s – LC by Lauren Conrad, Simply Vera by Vera Wang, Apt. 9 and ELLE are the top 4 lines that are great for work. They have essentials like black blazers and solid dress pants and trendy pieces like bell-sleeve blouses. You will find shoes for every season: heels, boots and flats. A good bit of my tops and shoes come from here. All 4 lines offer a balanced mix of business casual and sophisticated dressier pieces.

**Ways to save: Join the free ‘Yes 2 You’ reward program to accrue points for reward certificates to use on anything. Sign up for text alerts and emails to get coupons. If you use the app, some coupons will automatically be saved to your wallet. There are many opportunities to earn Kohl’s Cash and there is at least a 15% off coupon always out there, just Google Kohl’s coupons.

I hope this insight helps make your work wear shopping a little easier. Since these stores always run some type of sale, just let me know if you have any questions. I’m very familiar with which promotions are better than others. TIP: Look between Thursday – Sunday for better sales
