Mobile Fashion Week 2018 is in the books! What a great night out with friends and my local community celebrating fashion and charity! It was the perfect way to welcome the first day of Fall. The event was held outside this year and the weather was perfect! In case you missed it, I shared my initial excitement in this blogpost where I discussed the purpose behind MFW and the unique location of the fashion show.
A few of my girlfriends attended with me for a fun Girl’s Night Out! We sipped on cocktails and discussed clothes all night. I was able to sit front row to the only model stopping station on the unique circular runway…the pose spot. Meaning, all of the photographers were directly set-up behind me! Bonus: I also sat beside one of the designers. In all, it was an awesome way to experience my first Mobile Fashion Week as a blogger.
The Outfit.
The first thing we must talk about is the outfit, of course. “What to wear” is the most pressing decision for any fashion event. I spent the whole week outfit prepping because I was indecisive and I waited until the last minute to plan a look. P.S. That is never a good idea! Although, scrambling at the last minute is usually when I do my best styling. Any other event, I would have easily decided to go with a dress. But, I wanted something different for my first runway show. Something a little dressy but also bold…a mix of simple and stand-out style.
After thinking about it for far too long, I remembered I had purchased a jumpsuit 2 weeks prior from Lotus Boutique. The lightbulb finally flickered on in my head and stopped those racing outfit possibilities. Done! Normally, it’s hard to forget about new clothes but I was thinking way too hard about the perfect outfit that it slipped my mind.
For the accessories and shoes, I knew I wanted to do a pattern. I chose one of the most popular Fall patterns–snakeskin. I went with an ivory and black snakeskin print to compliment the teal jumpsuit. I wasn’t lucky enough to score snakeskin earrings in time, but I did find a big, flashy ivory and black pair. They helped give me the right amount of glam, no necklace needed. After I had my earrings, bag and shoes together, I still felt like something was missing. That’s when I decided to wear a black leather belt to match the bag. I found a western double buckle belt online and immediately knew it was the one. The silver buckles added a little shine and matched the chain detail on my purse. Finally, Done!
